During this last week of the 2024-2025 school year, teachers will continue their work with the Seven Sacred Teachings. Students will continue to build understandings of Eagle (love), Bison (respect), Bear (courage), Sabe (honesty), Beaver (wisdom), Wolf (humility), and Turtle (truth). Students have been learning about these teachings throughout the year, with a focus on building knowledge and self-reflection. As well, students have been learning how their actions and words show who they are as people.
Moving into summer break, our hope is that students will continue to display these teachings when they are in their community. We hope that students have the opportunity to meet new friends as well as play with classmates.
When meeting new people, we would like our students to be welcoming, caring, respectful and safe, thinking back to the teachings they have learned within the walls of our school and applying them to new environments. Transferring their knowledge, shows deep understanding.
In the 2024-2025 school year, we have identified various significant dates that we will learn about. The dates were selected based on celebrations which our students have shared with us. This will provide all Colonel Sanders students, and staff members as well, an opportunity to learn about others in our school in a meaningful way. When learning about each other we begin to understand that people are all unique and bring various gifts to our world. Please review the significant dates posted to our school’s website.
By adding many dates of significance to our school calendar we hope that all students, staff and family members will feel welcomed, cared for, respected and safe within the walls of our school.
For students who will be returning, we look forward to seeing you on August 29, 2024 for the first day of school. If possible, we would love to see you back at our Informal Open House on August 28, 2024 between 11:00am and 12:00pm.
For students who will be leaving Colonel Sanders School, we wish you well at your new school! Take the teachings with you as they will lead you well.
