On Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, we welcome all Colonel Sanders students and their families to an Informal Open House. Students must come with a responsible adult, this is not a drop off event.

This event is for students and their families to meet some of the Colonel Sanders staff members who work in the building.

Students and families will have the chance to meet their 2026-2027 classroom teacher, see their classroom, and see their grade level entry door.  

As well, families will have the opportunity to meet the Music, French, Class Size Reduction, and Complexity teachers. All students will be taught by the Music Teacher. Grade 1-4 students will have French instruction in their classroom by our French Specialist. Kindergarten to grade 3 students may have a Class Size Reduction Teacher working alongside their homeroom teacher. Some identified students will be taught by the Complexity Teacher.

The Informal Open House is also a great opportunity for families to meet one another and for students to see their future classmates.

This is a casual event with the focus on reducing uneasy feelings about the first day of school. Staff will be in casual dress as they will still be getting the school ready for the first day on Monday, August 31, 2026.

If your student is new to Colonel Sanders, this would be a wonderful opportunity to begin developing relationships within the building!

For students who are returning to Colonel Sanders, this could increase the excitement for the first day of school!

Teachers will be sending a welcome letter to all students on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 after 2:00 PM. Please view this email before the Informal Open House as it will tell you who your student’s teacher is and the class number for you to go to during the event. School administration will have a master list and can help guide you and your student to the appropriate classroom if needed.

When you arrive, please enter through the main doors, off Trafford Drive NW (close to the garden). There will be staff to direct you to classrooms, as well as posted maps.
