As well, teachers will have links to specific videos which will be played when asked over the intercom system. We kindly request that all staff and students wear the formal uniform on this day. For students who are in Guides or Scouts, they can choose to wear these formal uniforms as it also shows respect for people in the armed forces. If possible, please send in funds for the Poppy Fund. All students will receive a poppy prior to the modified Remembrance Day assembly. On Fridays school ends at 1:15pm.
Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) has Administrative Regulations which guide our work in schools. Administrative Regulation 6031- Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments - outlines "the roles and expectations related to meeting CBE’s responsibility to provide students and staff with a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning and work environment that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging for all members."
As parents/guardians it is important that you understand your role in maintaining a Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environment. Please read AR 6031.
A Traditional Learning Centre (TLC) is alternative program within CBE, one of the areas of focus for our program is character education. Teachers and family members model character through their actions, language, and behaviours. As a TLC, it is important that we model how to work through areas of challenge, how to greet people each day, how to engage with others who have views that may be different to our own. This modelling shows our students how to work through these situations.
