Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) has Administrative Regulations which guide our work in schools. Administrative Regulation 6031- Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments - outlines "the roles and expectations related to meeting CBE’s responsibility to provide students and staff with a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning and work environment that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging for all members."
As parents/guardians it is important that you understand your role in maintaining a Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environment. Please read AR 6031.
A Traditional Learning Centre (TLC) is alternative program within CBE, one of the areas of focus for our program is character education. Teachers and family members model character through their actions, language, and behaviours. As a TLC, it is important that we model how to work through areas of challenge, how to greet people each day, how to engage with others who have views that may be different to our own. This modelling shows our students how to work through these situations.
