Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fair is coming and sales will be running from Nov 26-29. It is open to students during their assigned preview times and to parents during conference times on Thursday, Nov 28 from 4:30-8:00 PM, and on Friday morning from 9 am-noon, at which point the book fair will be closed.

Debit, credit, cheques or cash will be accepted. Any re-orders due to sold out stock will be delivered to the school during the following couple of weeks after book fair, and distributed to students in classrooms.

Your purchases will help to earn free books for our school library!

Class previews are scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, Nov 26: 1T, 1S, 4KW, 3C, 2D, 3M
  • Wednesday, Nov 27: 1M, 4M, 2DS, 4K, 2C
  • Thursday, Nov 28: 1CD, 4P, 3LC, 2M, 3F

Sending money on preview days is totally up to the parent’s discretion. If you choose to send money with your child, please limit them to a maximum of $20. That way if loss occurs it will be minimal. Most books start at $9.00 or more, with some fun pencils, erasers and other gadgets being less depending on the choice.

*Note: The “gadgets” tend to be extremely popular and some students will spend all their money on them.  If you only want them to purchase a book with the money you send, let them know your expectations ahead of time, as book fair volunteers do not have time to “police” what each child buys.  It is recommended that if you want to have more say in what your child purchases, or for purchases larger than $20, to save them for during conference times.

Students will be bringing home a brochure with their Wish Lists after their preview day. Come on out and get some holiday shopping done while you support our school library!

Message from the Office

As a school, our job is to ensure that all 395 students are safe. At the end of the school day there is an important way that you can support this work.

At the end of the day, please do not take students out of any line. Teachers place students onto buses. They account for each student. If a student is removed from the line and the teacher was not informed, we then need to call parents and hold buses until we know the student is safe. This then causes our buses to be delayed. It is best if you write a note in the agenda to inform your teacher that you will be picking up your student. You can also call the school prior to 3:15 PM to give this information to the office. The school's phone number is 403-777-6034.

Teachers would love to talk to their families, at the end of the school day when teachers are ensuring student safety by taking students to their buses is not the right time. Students who are being picked up are being supervised by our specialists at the ball wall. All teachers are busy ensuring student safety.

If you would like to talk to your student's teacher, please book an appointment. This could be done by emailing your teacher or writing a note in the agenda.

Lastly, on Friday, our school day ends at 1:15 PM. If you are picking up your students, please arrive promptly for 1:15 PM.
