Updates and Reminders - Report Cards for the 2025-2026 School Year

  • Update - February 20, 2026 - Mid-year Report Cards will go live in PowerSchool
  • Update - French and Music - Teachers will be providing comments for all grade 3 and 4 students in the first report card; grade 1 and 2 students will have comments in the second report card
  • Reminder - CBE has specific guidelines that teachers are required to use to write comments
  • Update - There are two different ways that Colonel Sanders teachers will write report card comments; homeroom teachers will use one way, specialist teachers will be using a different way
  • Reminder - June 25, 2026 - End of Year Report Cards will go live in PowerSchool

Reminder - Parent-Teacher Conferences #2

  • February 26, 2026 - 4:30pm to 8:00pm and February 27, 2026 - 9:00am to 2:00pm
  • This modification was made for this school year because Eid should be occurring during the March 19 and 20 timeframe; since many of our families celebrate Eid we wanted to ensure that families could attend Learning Conferences #2, therefore we have made this change for this School Year

Reminder - Mayor's Food Drive

  • December 1 to December 12 - Pasta-tively Saucy (Positively Super) Food and Cash Donation Drive
  • Students and staff are invited to bring donations to school (food and cash)
  • Purpose - Students are involved in community action, participate in mathematics, and a bit of competition too!

Update - Grade Level Learning Journeys

  • A Learning Journey is an opportunity for families to see how their student is learning at school and where they are within their learning
  • In consideration of teacher workload, these have been canceled for the 2025-2026 School Year

Reminder - School Council Meeting

  • Our next School Council Meeting will be held online on December 10, 2025
    • 6:15-6:30 - Chat - at this time parents can ask generic questions to either School Council Executive or the School's Administration
    • 6:30-7:30 - Formal Meeting
    • 7:30 - Executive Members and parents who have joined the meeting will review Request for Funds that the school has put forth (School Administration is not present for this portion)

Reminders - Weather

  • Students go outside to play twice a day
    • lunch recess - 20 minutes
    • afternoon recess - 15 minutes
  • Students need to have all their winter clothing at school ready to go outside for recess breaks
  • Please ensure that students have all their winter clothing including: a winter coat, snowpants, boots, mittens or gloves, a winter hat (toque)
  • Students who are not prepared for the weather will be cold when outside during the recess breaks
  • Students will not go outside if it is colder than -20C including the windchill; this is monitored throughout the day
    • ex: students may not go outside for lunch recess because it is colder than -20C including the windchill, yet by afternoon recess the weather may have improved, and students will go outside for afternoon recess
  • If it is colder than -20C including the windchill, a recess break will occur in the classroom; each classroom has various games for student use

Reminders - Attendance

  • If your student will not be coming to school, please leave a message on the School's Attendance Line
    • Name - first and last
    • Class Code (ex: 1T)
    • Reason for absence
    • State if your student takes the bus
  • If the Attendance Line is full, please call back to leave a message with a person
  • At times, parents have been emailing in their attendance; if the person you emailed is at work on this day we do receive the email, but if the person is absent, we will likely not receive the email
  • If you have emailed, then receive a call about your student's absence this is because the person you emailed is not at work that day and the message was not received by the school
  • If your student will be absent for an appointment on a future date, a message in the agenda could also be written prior to the date of the appointment

Reminders - Busing

  • Do not leave your student at the bus stop alone
  • Ensure that your student has their winter clothing because if there is an issue with the bus, the bus could get cold
  • Ensure that you are checking the Cellular Phone application for your specific bus to note any delays in either direction
  • Review the Bus Social Story which has been sent home this year
  • If there are any concerns on the bus, please contact the bus company or the school
  • Student get very excited when their bus arrives at their stop in the morning, please ensure that your student waits their turn to board the bus
