Grade 1 Learning Journey

We are excited to have you join us for the upcoming Grade 1Learning Journey on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

A Learning Journey shows families how students are learning and what they are learning. This is not a showcase of perfect, complete work. There are two parts to the Grade 1 Learning Journey. A musical component in the gym, as well as a literacy, mathematics, and science  component within each classroom.

To ensure everything runs smoothly and that all students have the best experience possible, we kindly ask for your attention to the following important details:

Schedule

  • Doors will open at 4:05PM
  • The event will run from 4:15-5:15PM
  • 1T and 1S will start in the gym. Please change shoes and bring jackets to classrooms upon entry and follow classroom teacher instructions.
  • 1M and 1CD will begin the evening in their classrooms and will follow teacher instructions. Groups will switch partway through.

Attendance of Siblings

  • While we understand that family events are important, we kindly request that siblings do not attend this special event. This time is dedicated to the Grade 1 students and their parents, and we want to ensure that each student has the opportunity to fully engage and enjoy the activity with engagement from their parents.
  • If, for any reason, siblings must attend, parents are fully responsible for supervising all children during the event. We ask that you ensure your other children are supervised at all times, as we will only be able to provide materials for the Grade 1 student to participate in the activity.

Supervision

  • Parents must supervise their students between 3:38PM and the start of the event at 4:15PM (doors open at 4:05PM).
  • Parent must supervise their students (and siblings if they attend) throughout the event.

Pick Up

  • Please be aware that there will be no supervision for students between 3:38 PM and 4:15PM. As such, all students must be picked up at this time. Students cannot remain at the school between 3:38 PM and 4:15PM.

Communication

  • If you have an alternate pickup plan for your child on this day, please write a note in your student’s agenda. This is very important for our end of day organization.

Activity Materials

  • There will only be enough materials available for the Grade 1 student to participate in the activity (if applicable). Please plan accordingly if siblings will be present.

Uniform

  • Students wear the informal uniform for this event.

We are looking forward to a wonderful event and appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a positive and meaningful experience for all the students.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
