As the City of Calgary continues to grow, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is committed to providing strong, stable learning environments that keep peers together, while working to alleviate enrolment pressures.

Why am I receiving this notice?

According to CBE records, your child(ren) currently attend Thorncliffe or Colonel Sanders Schools and may be impacted by designation changes, beginning the 2026-27 school year.

This notice will provide you with the information you need to know.

What are the designations and grade changes?

Effective for the 2026-27 school year, the Traditional Learning Centre (TLC) kindergarten program will be re-designated from Thorncliffe School to Colonel Sanders School. This means:

• The TLC kindergarten program at Thorncliffe School will end June 30, 2026.
• All new kindergarten registrations for the 2026-27 school year will be designated to Colonel Sanders School.
• 2025-26 kindergarten students enrolled in the TLC program at Thorncliffe School will be automatically designated to Colonel Sanders School for Grade 1. No action is required.
• Colonel Sanders School will change from Grades 1 to 4, to kindergarten to Grade 4 for TLC program students.
• These changes will alleviate enrolment pressures at Thorncliffe School, in addition to providing a consistent designation for the TLC program.
• Colonel Sanders School is located at: 226 Northmount Dr NW.

How do I register for school next year?

Registration for the 2026-27 school year starts in January 2026. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.

How will students get to school?

Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone. Visit Busing & Transportation for more information.
