Report Cards
By the end of January, your student’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE account. Please be sure to view the report card in your MYCBE account.
The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your student is progressing in their learning. Teachers also share learning progress at Learning Conferences (parent/teacher conferences), emails, phone calls, as well as additional meetings (when needed). Please consider all forms of communication when reading your student's report card.
What to Expect in Your Child’s Report Card
Colonel Sanders School began implementing the new Alberta Education Curriculum. Please see below for further information.
- Fall 2022 start:
- Mathematics - Grades 1-4
- English Language Arts and Literature - Grades 1-4
- Physical Education and Wellness - Grades 1-4
- Fall 2023 start:
- Science (K-3)
In the new curriculum, some things students learn may be new or may have previously been taught in higher grades. Students could be missing foundational pieces from previous grades, and their report card indicators might not be as high as before. This is expected when there is a new curriculum. It might take more than one school year to build these foundational skills. Even though each grade has its own curriculum, many ideas come up again each year, helping students to build on what they already know and do well.
Teachers continue to make learning interesting and inspiring and are adapting to students' needs during this transition. As always, if you have questions about your child's learning, please reach out to their teacher.
French Cultural Assembly
Our French Cultural Assembly is going to be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00pm. It is a chance for our school to celebrate traditional French folk music and dance. Each of the classes in Grades 1-3 will perform a line or circle dance to traditional French folk songs they’ve been practicing with Mr. Stetz, the French teacher. The Grade 4 classes will accompany the songs by playing the wooden spoons under the direction of Mrs. Leslie, the Music teacher. Families are invited to join us for the celebration, but seating will be limited. We will open the stage for seating, as well as a row of seats around the perimeter of the gym facing the stage.
French Winter Carnaval
Winter Carnival will be held at the school on Friday, February 2. We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with this fun filled outdoor event.
If you are available to volunteer Friday morning please sign up using the link below.

Hot Chocolate
The School Council would like offer a special treat to the students on Friday, February 2 after they participate in Carnaval. We will be serving a mug of hot chocolate to all students as well as a jumbo marshmallow. To conserve waste we would ask that students bring their own mug or cup to school so that they can drink their hot chocolate. Please note: the marshmallow will contain gelatin so if your child has a specific diet restriction please let them know so they can tell the volunteers and they will not be served one.
