Risk Mitigation
As you know safety is a priority at Colonel Sanders School, as is risk mitigation.
As families, you can also support us in mitigating risk when you drop off and/or pick up your student(s) at school.
When parking your car for either drop off of pick up, please ensure that you are not parked in the crosswalk. As well, it is extremely important that drivers do not reverse through crosswalks. U-turns are not allowed through a yellow dividing line. Passing cars that are stopped for the pedestrian light, is also unsafe.
Thank you for supporting us in mitigating risk during drop off and pick up times!
Cellular Phones
Cellular phones are to be kept in a student's school bag and should not come out of their school bag during the school day. If you need to connect with your student, please call the office. At our grade levels, students are not yet taught how to use their device for learning purposes. At our grade levels, students are using CBE issued devices to learn to access information that has been verified by teachers as being appropriate and useful for learning. If a student has a medical concern which requires the use of a cellular phone, please call the office to book an appointment with someone from the administrative team. The school is not responsible for cellular phones that are damaged or stolen while at school.
Tax Receipts Now Available
Tax receipts for lunch supervision fees for January – December 2023 are now available in parents online accounts. If a student has withdrawn from CBE, please direct parent inquiries to studentfees@cbe.ab.ca. Paper receipts will not be mailed out.

Message from the Office
As a school, our job is to ensure that all 370 students are safe. At the end of the school day there is an important way that you can support this work.
At the end of the day, please do not take students out of any line. Teachers place students onto buses. They account for each student. If a student is removed from the line and the teacher was not informed, we then need to call parents and hold buses until we know the student is safe. This then causes our buses to be delayed. It is best if you write a note in the agenda to inform your teacher that you will be picking up your student. You can also call the school prior to 3:20pm to give this information to the office. The school's phone number is 403-777-6034.
Teachers would love to talk to their families, at the end of the school day when teachers are ensuring student safety by taking students to their buses is not the right time. Students who are being picked up are being supervised by our specialists at the ball wall. All teachers are busy ensuring student safety.
If you would like to talk to your student's teacher, please book an appointment. This could be done by emailing your teacher or writing a note in the agenda.
On Friday's, our school day ends at 1:20pm. If you are picking up your students, please arrive promptly for 1:20pm.
